An excerpt from Baz Luhrmann’s “Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen”. (Maybe, I will post the video later this week and if you are curious about it, feel free to watch.)
I would like to ask you these questions. When did you last buy your clothes? What are your preferences in buying clothes? Are you an impulsive buyer? Do you buy because it is the latest fad? Do you feel like you are half-empty if you are not wearing “their” style? Do you even care about the price?
What I’m telling you is this, do not shop because you want to “keep up” with the latest trend. Go instead with the basic jeans and tees and express yourself.
Let us experiment with the simplest colour combo (black and white). Black and white will always be the most popular classic combination. This year, many black & white outfits are on the runway. Now, it’s our trun to try this colour patterns into our personal style (wear black pants with a white tee). The versatility of these two colours is unimaginable and will never be out of style.
Now, for a more classic evening look, let us wear black jeans paired with a blank tee (but don’t forget the heels). Coloured ones do not have the same fashion sense and effect. Although, coloured are great for creating a fun and casual look.
Create your own special style. Admit it or not we are guilty, and we are one those who copy others’ style. Do you? If you don’t then, good for you. All I’m saying is that is just be creative. We are unique and I believe we can pull this off. For sure, we will love the response we’ll get (though good or bad) – because it’s our own personal style.
